Gardaí announce plan for U2's gigs

(RTE.ie) -- Gardaí have put a major traffic and security plan in place for U2's three Dublin concerts, which begin in Croke Park on Friday.

Up to 250,000 people are expected to converge on the venue over the three days, which organisers say is the equivalent of three All-Ireland finals taking place over one weekend.

Concert goers are advised to check which part of the stadium their tickets are for and to follow the colour-coded signs to the area.

As two of the concerts are taking place on normal working days, those who live, work and travel in the area will face traffic restrictions around Croke Park on Friday, Saturday and Monday from 9am until 1am the following morning.

Some residents in the area are unhappy with the disruption they face and are also dissatisfied with the way residents' tickets were allocated.

A spokesperson for Croke Park said that 5,000 tickets were made available to residents - most of them free of charge - and that all those that applied in time received their allocation of two tickets per household.
