Sao Paulo #2 Setlist

The second of U2's two Sao Paulo shows featured a number of surprises in its setlist. Arguably the most notable was the Vertigo Tour debut of Desire. Although it was an Elevation Tour regular, it has only been played once since 2001, at a promotional gig for How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb on 15 November 2004. This particular performance was in response to a request from a member of the crowd, and it was played by only Bono and Edge, with Bono forgetting many of the lyrics. Before Desire was another surprise, the first performance of The First Time in a stadium. Its previous Vertigo Tour appearances have all been indoors in American arenas, the last of which occurred on 21 November 2005.

After missing the last two shows, Yahweh returned in the encore tonight, but a bigger surprise was to follow in the form of All I Want Is You. It was last played on 8 October 2005, and last appeared in an encore on 1 December 1989. To add to the surprise, at the end of All I Want Is You, Bono included a snippet of Love Rescue Me, a song last played on 10 January 1990. This is the first time All I Want Is You has ever closed a concert.

The full setlist was:

City Of Blinding Lights
Vertigo

Until The End Of The World
New Year's Day
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / Cielito Lindo (snippet)
Beautiful Day / Blackbird (snippet)
