Report from Brisbane, 05/11
This afternoon, U2 began rehearsing on the main stage at the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre. I headed down to QSAC to check out what was happening, and met up with some other fans who were already there. All of U2 had not arrived, but someone was practicing on stage - we initially thought it was just a technician, and then discovered it was The Edge. He did not play any full songs, but he rehearsed segments of the following songs (not in order):
1. City Of Blinding Lights (especially the intro)
2. Elevation
3. I Will Follow
4. Vertigo
5. The Saints Are Coming
6. Bad
He was also inserting other, unfamiliar musical segments - we do not know if he was simply playing around, or if they were new ideas he has been working on.
The Edge was still rehearsing when I departed due to other commitments. When I receive any news about what was played after I left, this article will be updated.
It should also be noted that some small-scale visual testing took place, utilising the two small screens to the side of the stage, up the top, rather than the main big screen. Yesterday, at night, lighting tests with the main screen were performed when it was sufficiently dark.
